Sun H. Lee M.D., PhD, is a fellowship trained, board certified neurosurgeon specializing in complex spine and brain tumor surgery. Most notably, Dr. Lee served for 14 years as the Professor of Neurosurgery at Rutgers University of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Prior to that, he was on the faculty at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where he completed a second full set of neurosurgical residency and spine fellowship.
Dr. Lee’s extensive experience and training in complex spine and brains surgery has distinguished him as one of the leaders in this arena, performing more than 4,000 operations throughout his esteemed career. His clinical and research interests include complex spine surgery for degenerative spine diseases and spinal cord tumors, surgical management of malignant brain tumors and pituitary tumors, and minimally invasive surgical approaches.
As a member of numerous professional neurosurgical societies, such as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and Congress of Neurological Surgeons in Spine and Brain Tumor Sections and North American Skull Base Society, Dr. Lee continually is named one of the top neurosurgeons in his field. With more than 50 publications written and produced, Dr. Lee is distinguished in academia as an innovator and specialist in spine surgery and malignant brain tumors.
A graduate of Seoul National University, Dr. Lee completed his first neurosurgical residency and fellowship in Korea. He also completed fellowships for vascular, spine surgery and brain tumor surgery at University of Minnesota and University of Pittsburgh.
